The Scammell Routeman / Trunker represented the final chapter of one of Britain’s most famous commercial vehicle manufacturers. Introduced in 1963, the Scammell Routeman Mk II became one of Britain’s most distinctive heavy eight-wheelers. Featuring Giovanni Michelotti’s modern glassfibre cab and built using proven Leyland components, the Routeman quickly established itself as a favourite with quarry operators, civil engineering contractors and heavy haulage firms. Its rugged construction, dependable performance and unmistakable styling ensured it remained a familiar sight on Britain’s roads and construction sites well into the 1970s.
