The Austin FX3 was one of the most iconic London black cabs of the post-war era, produced between 1948 and 1958. Designed specifically to meet the strict Metropolitan Police “Conditions of Fitness” for London taxis, it featured the famous tight turning circle still associated with London cabs today. Built by Carbodies on an Austin chassis, the FX3 became a familiar sight across Britain thanks to its rugged reliability, distinctive rounded styling, and spacious passenger compartment. It was eventually replaced by the even more famous Austin FX4, but the FX3 remains a beloved symbol of classic British transport and is still popular with collectors and enthusiasts.
